About Staycation HK
Staycation HK is an independent travel site about Hong Kong. We write the practical guides we wish existed when we were planning our own trips: how the Octopus card actually works, which attractions are worth the queue, where to stay, and how to get around without wasting a day.
What we cover
Our guides are organised around the things visitors actually ask: transport and the Octopus card, the attractions worth your time, hotels and staycations, shopping, and day trips out of the city. Each category has a hub page with an overview and the detailed guides underneath it, so you can start broad and go as deep as you need.
Who writes it
The guides are written by PJ. PJ writes Staycation HK's practical, on-the-ground Hong Kong travel guides — covering the Octopus card, getting around the city, where to stay, the attractions worth your time, and day trips.
How we work
- First-hand, practical, specific. We write about what we have actually done and what we would tell a friend, with the details that matter: prices, how to book, how long it takes, what to skip.
- Kept current. Hong Kong changes fast. We revisit guides and update prices, opening hours and transport details when things change, and we date every update.
- Honest opinions. If something is overrated we say so. A recommendation is never for sale.
How the site makes money
Staycation HK is free to read and reader-supported. Some links are affiliate links, most often to Klook and to partners we work with through affiliate networks. If you book or buy through one of those links we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence what we recommend, and every affiliate link is clearly labelled. Read the full affiliate disclosure. We do not run display advertising and we do not publish paid or sponsored posts.
