Hong Kong Itineraries
Ready-made Hong Kong itineraries — a 3-day plan, a first-timer's route, a layover guide and a budget breakdown, mapping the must-sees into an easy day-by-day.

Hong Kong rewards a little planning. The sights are close together but spread across islands and neighbourhoods, so a loose day-by-day plan helps you see more and backtrack less. These itineraries map the city's highlights into routes that actually flow, whether you have three days, a single layover, or a tight budget.
How many days do you need in Hong Kong?
Three full days covers the essentials without rushing: the skyline and Victoria Peak, the harbour and Star Ferry, the markets of Kowloon, and one bigger excursion to the Big Buddha or Disneyland. Four or five days lets you add a proper day trip and slow down. With only 24 hours, you can still hit the headline sights if you stay central and move early.
Where these plans take you
A good first visit balances the icons with the everyday. Expect the Peak Tram and Victoria Peak for the view, the Star Ferry across the harbour, a temple or two, the neon and street food of Mong Kok, and at least one half-day out to the Big Buddha on Lantau. Browse the full attractions guide to swap in whatever suits you.
Plan the practical bits first
Two things make any itinerary run smoothly. Get an Octopus card so you never queue for tickets, and read getting around Hong Kong so you know how the MTR, ferries and buses connect the stops on your plan. Sort those and the days fall into place.
Got longer, or a base to book?
If you have spare time, fold in a day trip to Macau or the outlying islands. Travelling with little ones? See our Hong Kong with kids guide for a gentler pace. And pick the right base for your route with our hotel guides by neighbourhood.
