Hong Kong Disneyland Character Dining: Where to Book Now Enchanted Garden Is Closed

Hong Kong Disneyland character dining now comes down to two hotel buffets, because the one most guides still recommend is shut. The whole Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel closed on 12 October 2026 for a full refurbishment, and its Enchanted Garden Restaurant, the character buffet most guides send families to, closed with it. Disney has not given a reopening date. Its own Enchanted Garden page now points character diners to Ink & Plate at Disney's Hollywood Hotel instead.

So if you are booking a character meal for the kids right now, the real choice is between Ink & Plate and the breakfast buffet at Dragon Wind. Here is what each costs, when the characters actually turn up, and which one I would book.

The short version

  • Ink & Plate (Disney's Hollywood Hotel): characters at every buffet session, breakfast, weekend lunch and dinner. Breakfast from HK$298 per adult.
  • Dragon Wind (Disney Explorers Lodge): characters at breakfast only. Breakfast from HK$328 per adult.
  • Enchanted Garden (Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel): closed until further notice.
  • Inside the park: no year-round character meal. The seasonal one, Jack Skellington's The Nightmare Before Dinner at River View Cafe, is part of Disney Halloween Time, which ends on 1 November 2026.

All prices below come from Disney's own session-and-price sheets. Every price carries a 10% service charge on top, and Disney marks them "or above" because they vary by date.

Ink & Plate: the main event now

Ink & Plate opened in 2023 when Disney's Hollywood Hotel reopened after its pandemic closure. The room is a tribute to Walt Disney Animation Studios' old Ink & Paint Department, and the food is an international buffet with vegetarian and halal-friendly options. Disney's page is clear on the characters: a Disney friend is around at every buffet period.

Disney's price sheet, last updated 16 October 2026:

  • Breakfast, daily, 7:30am to 11am: HK$298 adult, HK$208 child (3 to 11)
  • Lunch buffet, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, 12pm to 3pm: HK$468 adult, HK$298 child
  • Dinner, Monday to Thursday, 5:30pm to 10:30pm: HK$598 adult, HK$388 child
  • Dinner, Friday to Sunday, public holidays and their eves: HK$738 adult, HK$468 child

There is also a new weekday lunch set menu (HK$248 to HK$318, from 16 October), but it is not a buffet session and Disney does not list a character greeting for it. If characters are the point, skip it.

Disney does not promise a line-up, only that "different Disney friends may appear to greet you." Diners posting about breakfast here mention Mickey and Minnie, and one Reddit diner wrote that "there were a lot of options and everything was delicious." Dragon Wind: the breakfast-only option

Dragon Wind sits in Disney Explorers Lodge and is a different kind of restaurant: regional Chinese cooking from live stations, laid out around the "Five Elements" idea. Characters only appear at the breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner are character-free, which is useful to know if you want a nicer adult meal without the photo queue.

  • Breakfast, daily, 7:30am to 11am: HK$328 adult, HK$228 child (3 to 11)

That sheet is dated April 2025, so treat the prices as a floor. One older report on the Disboards forum described characters standing at the back of the room with a ticketed queue for photos, rather than doing the rounds of the tables. Reservations are on +852 3510 2000. If you are there before 6 December, Dragon Wind is also running a seasonal hairy crab menu.

Ink & Plate vs Dragon Wind: which to book

For most families, Ink & Plate breakfast. It is the cheapest character meal at the resort, it is the restaurant Disney itself now sends Enchanted Garden fans to,, and its buffet runs from Western breakfast staples to Asian dishes. Two adults and two kids come to about HK$1,110 with the service charge, before any date-based increase.

Book Dragon Wind breakfast if you are staying at Explorers Lodge and want to stay put, or if your family would rather start the day with a Chinese-leaning breakfast than a Western one. Book Ink & Plate dinner only if the timing works better than a morning slot. A Friday or Saturday dinner for the same family of four runs to roughly HK$2,650 with service, more than double breakfast, for the same characters.

The practical case for breakfast is the park. Both buffets start at 7:30am, so you can eat, get the photos, and still be at the gates for opening. If you are trying to fit a lot into one day at Hong Kong Disneyland, a late, long character dinner is the harder fit.

Is there character dining inside the park?

Not on a regular basis. The park's restaurants are set-meal and table-service places, and characters appear at meet-and-greets rather than at your table. The exception is seasonal. During Halloween Time 2026, River View Cafe is hosting Jack Skellington's The Nightmare Before Dinner, with Jack, Sally and Oogie Boogie, a bottomless welcome drink and a themed menu, but it is part of Halloween Time, which ends on 1 November.

If you want something Disney-flavoured at lunch without a buffet, Plaza Inn serves dim sum shaped like Disney characters. For the rest of the day's meals, our first-timer tips cover when to eat to dodge the lunch rush.

Tips for booking with kids

  • Book ahead. With Enchanted Garden closed, Ink & Plate is the only character buffet left at lunch and dinner.
  • Check the child age band. Disney's child price covers ages 3 to 11. Ask about under-3s when you book.
  • Budget the 10%. None of the listed prices include the service charge.
  • Have the camera ready. Disney says the cast members at Dragon Wind will take a photo of your whole group, so you can all be in it.
  • Toddlers: a 7:30am breakfast suits early risers better than a dinner past bedtime. Our guide to Hong Kong Disneyland with toddlers has the rest of the day planned around naps.
