The best rides at Ocean Park for adults: every thrill ride, ranked

The best rides at Ocean Park for adults are the Hair Raiser, The Flash and the Wild Twister, in that order. After those three, the list gets short quickly. Ocean Park is a marine park first and a thrill park second, and since 2021 it has closed several of its big rides without replacing them. If you are coming purely for adrenaline, you can ride everything worth riding by early afternoon.

That is not a reason to skip it. The rides sit on a headland above the sea, and the views from the top of the Hair Raiser are better than most parks can offer. You just need to know which rides are still running, because a lot of the rankings online are out of date.

Rides that have closed (ignore them on older lists)

Before the ranking, a warning. Search for Ocean Park's best rides and you will still find lists built around the Mine Train, The Abyss, The Dragon and the Raging River. None of them exist any more. The Dragon, an Arrow looping coaster, closed in February 2021. The Mine Train, the cliff-edge coaster over Aberdeen, closed on 31 August 2021, on the same day as The Abyss drop tower and the Raging River log flume.

The list below only includes rides on the park's own attractions page in October 2026.

The best rides at Ocean Park for adults, ranked

1. Hair Raiser. This is the park's one real roller coaster for adults, and it is a good one. It is a Bolliger & Mabillard floorless coaster that opened in December 2011, with four inversions, a top speed of 88km/h and forces the park puts at 4G. The ride lasts about a minute. Your feet dangle over nothing while the track swings you out over the South China Sea. Minimum height is 140cm. Ride it first, before the queue builds.

2. The Flash. A pendulum arm that swings you 22m into the air and right over the top, at up to 60km/h and 3.9G, with nothing under your feet. For some riders it is the scarier of the two, because you go fully upside down. Riders must be between 137cm and 195cm tall and aged 12 or over. It is one of the two rides only covered by the more expensive FasTrack tier (more on that below).

3. Wild Twister. The park's newest thrill ride, a Mondial Top Scan that opened in 2019. A main arm, extended arms and individual seats all spin on separate axes at up to 4G. Height limits match The Flash, 137cm to 195cm. One caution: when we checked the park's ride page in October 2026, it listed no operating hours for the Wild Twister that day. Check the day's hours before you plan around it.

4. Whirly Bird. A swing ride that lifts open, floorless seats over 30m into the air, with a joystick that lets you tilt the wing on your seat. It is gentler than the top three, but the height and the sea view make it worth doing. Minimum height is 122cm.

5. Crazy Galleon. A 26m pirate ship that swings to a nearly 45° tilt each way, 20m off the ground. Minimum height is 122cm. Note that it opens later than the rest, at 12:15pm on the day we checked.

6. Rev Booster. A spinning ride with three levels of orbital motion that rocks back and forth to music. It is fun once. Minimum height is 130cm.

7. The Rapids. A 380m river-rapids ride through the Rainforest zone in nine-seat round rafts. People on the bridges above can fire water guns at you. The park warns you may get soaked, so bring or buy a raincoat. Minimum height is 120cm. On a hot afternoon it might be the best ride in the park.

8. Arctic Blast. A family coaster in Polar Adventure, open to riders from 100cm and age 4. Adults will find it mild. It often has one of the longest waits in the park, so ride it only if the queue is short or you are with kids.

Also on the Summit: the Flying Swing (a 7m spinning swing, two minutes) and Bumper Blaster (bumper cars; you need to be 145cm and 12 or over to drive). Neither is a must, but both are next to rides on the list above.

How to plan a thrill-ride day

Every ride above is at the Summit. Hair Raiser, The Flash, Whirly Bird, Rev Booster and Bumper Blaster are all in Thrill Mountain. The Wild Twister, Crazy Galleon and Flying Swing are in Marine World, also on the Summit. So go straight up from the entrance by cable car or the Ocean Express funicular, and do Thrill Mountain first while it is cooler. Our guide to the best day to visit Ocean Park covers which days are quietest.

Queues are modest by big-park standards. In queue-times.com's tracking, even the longest average waits (Hair Raiser and Arctic Blast) came in under half an hour. When you are done, take the cable car back down to the Waterfront for the views over the sea.

Is Ocean FasTrack worth it for adults?

Ocean FasTrack lets you skip the standby queue on designated rides. Standard costs HK$320 for seven priority accesses. Pro costs HK$580 and covers every designated ride, including The Flash and Bumper Blaster, which Standard leaves out. Adults and children pay the same.

With waits that short, most adults on a normal weekday will not need it. Note the different prices during Halloween Fest. On its 2026 event dates (9 to 11, 16 to 19, 23 to 25 and 30 to 31 October, plus 1 November) the park sells a separate Halloween FasTrack instead, at HK$380 for Standard and HK$620 for Pro.

FasTrack is an add-on, not an entry ticket. Our Ocean Park tickets guide covers admission prices and where to buy for less.

Is Ocean Park good for thrill-seekers?

Honestly, it is good for half a day. You get one strong coaster, two flat rides that will scare most adults, and a handful of milder rides. Fill the rest of the day with the pandas, the aquarium and the cable car. If big rides are your main reason to go, read our Ocean Park vs Disneyland comparison. Quick answers

What is the scariest ride at Ocean Park? The Flash or the Hair Raiser, depending on what scares you. The Flash swings you fully upside down at 22m. The Hair Raiser is faster, at 88km/h, with four inversions over the sea.

What is Ocean Park famous for? Its giant pandas, its marine animals and the cable car that links the Waterfront to the Summit over the sea. The thrill rides are a smaller part of the visit than they used to be.

Which is better for adults, Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park? For thrill rides alone, Ocean Park has the more intense rides (Hair Raiser and The Flash). Disneyland is better for theming, shows and a full day out.

How many hours do you need at Ocean Park? Most visitors spend six to eight hours. If you only want the thrill rides, plan on a morning at the Summit.

Is the Mine Train still open? No. The Mine Train closed on 31 August 2021, along with The Abyss and the Raging River. The Dragon coaster closed earlier that year.
